While living in Danville, VA with my wife and three kids, we attended an independent baptist church regularly and become members. We were very involved in the church, which become family for us in a place where we had no actual family. I was asked by the pastor to teach an adult Sunday school class, which terrified me for multiple reasons. I have a natural fear of speaking in front of people. I had no prior experience or materials for teaching Bible lessons. I didn’t know any of the people in the class. There were many excuses that I could have made not to accept the position. However, I prayed for guidance and ended up taking the role, which would turn out to be one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. The memory of creating these lessons reminds me of the rewards that God has for us when we are obedient to follow His direction. I am sharing these lessons with the hope that God will continue to use them for His purpose.
